All’s well that ends.

Done!! Yay!! I now leave the ranks of ‘people-who-want-to-write-a-novel-someday,’ and join the ranks of ‘people-who-have-a-novel-sitting-around-in-a-drawer.’

Day 24 of JaNo – 4004 words today, 54097 total

Pushed through 2 days worth of writing today, as I wasn’t so keen on stopping once the very end of it was in sight. I can’t say that I’m thrilled with the ending, but I got to a point where I felt comfortable writing “THE END,” so that’s it for my JaNoing experience. Overall, it was really good. I learned some things about what works, and a lot about what doesn’t work, both of which will be really useful when I sit down to write a non-practice novel.

And what will happen to *this* novel? Well, as stated above, I’ll throw it in a drawer for a bit. It certainly isn’t viable as it is now, but I think if I sat down and did all the pre-planning and research that I skipped, there may be something there. In the meantime, I think I’ll be going back to short stories for a while, and writing fewer words per day, but hopefully better ones :)

  1. whew! feels good, don’t it? :D

  2. Congrats! They say you never forget your first novel – and you never do. Even though you want to. Really, really want to… lol. Even if you decide not to send it out, chances are you’ll be able to pick it apart and use parts of it for other projects.

  3. Fucking amazing.

    24 days.

I’m not surprised, but I am incredibly impressed.

  4. Thanks! Good luck to you with your novel!
