Website: New and Improved!

It’s a lot easier to update an existing website than it is to start over from scratch.   But at some point you start looking at your website from 2007 and wondering if maybe something that isn’t done with html tables might be a good idea.  Probably for most reasonable people, that point was quite a while ago.  But better late than never, right?

The first day of building the new site was immensely frustrating.  WordPress isn’t that hard to learn, but there are a lot of options for themes and widgets and it took a while for me to get a grasp on what I actually needed to make the site come out the way I wanted.  Thanks to everyone on twitter who answered my questions and put up with my whining :)

Improvements on the new site include a page listing all my stories that have appeared on podcasts, an integrated blog, and links to my social media accounts.  I put more emphasis on my writing, and less on photography (which I still do as a hobby, but I don’t spend nearly as much time on it as I used to).  I’m pleased with how the site came out, although it does have a distinctly wordpress-y look to it.  I’ll probably tweak it a bit over the next few days, but. . .website complete, time for ice cream!
