Yoachim successfully mixes reality and fantasy so that you can’t even see the seams between them." (read the whole review at The Fix)

September 7, 2007 - Moved, Japan
My husband got a job at the University of Texas, so we've moved from Seattle to Austin. We left our old apartment at the end of July, and now at the beginning of September we are finally settled into our new place. What happened to August? Well, part of August was consumed by the week long trip from Washington to Texas. Also in the month of August, we went to Japan -- check out my flickr page for pictures from the trip.

I am one of 8 finalists in the 2nd quarter of the Writers of the Future (WotF) contest. Final results (only the top 3 stories are included in the anthology) will be announced in about six weeks.

UPDATE (September 7, 2007): I found out, while in Japan, that I did not make the top 3 for WotF. Still, top 8 isn't too bad, and now I can try to find a different market for the story. Congratulations to the writers who placed in the top 3!
