Today was a good day for my Clarion withdrawal symptoms. This afternoon I went to a crit session with some former Clarion grads and got my fix of both coffee and “ditto.” It was nice to get back into the mode of reading and critting stories, even if it was only two for the whole week instead of seventeen. I’m hoping that being in the group will help motivate me to write new stories and to get my Clarion stories revised. Then this evening I got to go to a mini-reunion with a few of my classmates over dinner, so all in all, it was a lovely day.
My goal (and I’m putting it up on my blog in an attempt to force myself to stick to it) is to revise one of my Clarion stories this week. If I can write a first draft every week at the workshop, I should be able to churn out a decent revision in that same amount of time. So look out giant spiders, here I come.
Yay! I love giant spiders. And dark chocolate.
Mmmm…dark chocolate really was quite popular with the class, wasn’t it? Just goes to show what excellent taste we all have, preferring the dark goodness to that sickly sweet milk chocolate stuff :)
ooooh, you lucky girl
It must be fantastic to be part of an ex-Clarions writing group. I hope it works out well for you. And, the mini-reunion must have been great. Living in Seattle has excellent perks.
Good luck fighting the giant spiders!
Re: ooooh, you lucky girl
Yep, Seattle is definitely a good place to be, I’m feeling pretty spoiled just being here :)
Blood, chocolate, spiderlings…
“Dark chocolate madness in my mind…”
My God.
Just remembering that story makes me happy.
Hmmm. Well I *was* planning to cut that line about the dark chocolate madness, but I suppose I could leave it in there :P
