Blood oranges! I saw these at the grocery store today, and decided to try them out. They taste just about identical to regular oranges, but are a nifty crimson color. (The one in the photograph is an orange section with the skin removed, which is the way I wanted to prep them to go with tonight’s dinner — had I been thinking more photographically, I probably would have cut some cross-sections. Oh well.)
Blood oranges are delicious. However, that particular shot looks like meats. Sushi meats, glistening in the light.
Oooh, sushi orange! …or orange sushi?
Ooo, blood orange on rice, or blood orange sashimi? Blood orange as part of a complex roll? The slice of blood orange in the salad that’s in the subsequent post, if you’re mentally processing the blood orange as meats, looks like a blood orange burger. The possibilities!
