Horror Sub for Friday the 13th
Sub# 55 – I revised the flash story I wrote earlier this week and subbed it to Noctem Aeternus. This is my first sub there, and it’s a newish market. If you’re into horror, go check it out (http://www.michaelknost.com/). They haven’t started putting out issues yet, but they will have quarterly PDF issues starting next January, and subscriptions are FREE.
Productivity
Finished off Chapter 4 for the write-a-thon this morning. This latest chapter is 3100 words, which brings my total wordcount up to 12,400.
I also wrote a flash story this morning. The idea has been knocking around in my head for a couple weeks now, so when I finally sat down to write, it went really quick.
Write-a-thon Week 3 update
Well, this is the end of week 3, and the official midpoint of the write-a-thon. Wordcount summary so far:
Week 1: 3400 words
Week 2: 2800 words
Week 3: 4600 words
This was a fairly productive week, wordcount-wise. I managed all of Chapter 3, and the first half or so of Chapter 4. Everything is rough rough drafty, but there’ll be plenty of time to polish later.
More sparkly pictures….
…from the 4th of July.
As promised, more photos of colorful explosions and whatnot are now on Flickr.
Fireworks
Hope everyone had a happy 4th of July! More pictures tomorrow….
WAT Midpoint
Wrote some words, then cut a bunch of words, and the final wordcount for Chapter 3 is 3100 words. Summary of write-a-thon progress so far:
Chapter 1 – 3400
Chapter 2 – 2800
Chapter 3 – 3100
Total words: 9300
Halfway done with my write-a-thon goal of six chapters :)
Mmmm…..
Amaretto French Toast
I had leftover French bread from dinner the other day, and one of my favorite ways to use up leftover bread is to make baked French toast. I’m also trying to use up various liquors, so as to avoid having to move them to Texas. The result? Amaretto French toast. (I don’t have a recipe, but for one _large_ serving: cut bread into cubes, place into one lightly greased (big) ramekin (or multiple little ones). Mix a couple eggs, some milk, a shot of amaretto, a couple teaspoons of …
It is July. At the end of _this_ month, I move to Texas. (eep!)
Started in on Chapter 3 today, managed 1000 words, so a reasonably good start. And I think I have a pretty good idea what needs to happen in this chapter. Hopefully, this week will be the week that I start to get ahead on my chapter-per-week goal…maybe finish Chapter 3 in the next day or two, and then get at least half of Chapter 4 done too.

Submission #54 – to Town Drunk (my first sub there)
and
Rejection #45 – A lightning …
Subs away!
Sub #52 (over the weekend) – to Writers of the Future, my 7th sub there. I have my fingers crossed that this submission will be disqualified (as that would mean I’d placed in Q2, and could no longer enter).
Sub #53 – to Lone Star Stories, my 5th submission there.
And, this evening:
Rejection #44 – 5 days to a friendly, positive rejection from Fantasy magazine, with an added reminder that as of July 1, they are closed to submissions until November.
